The Morrison hotel was built in 1999 on the site of the old Music Base recording studios. The hotel owner promoted the hotel as a boutique hotel and attracted many of the great rock stars to stay on their Dublin tours. When NODA was invited to refurbish this landmark hotel, we developed a common design idea around Irish music and songwriters.
Glowing light boxes are a signature theme running through the new hotel and form the surface of the reception desk in the foyer. We developed a prototype to achieve the colour and to solve issues of the functionality and maintenance. Irish song lyrics were etched into the glass lift walls running the height of the building.
AWARD - The Morrison Hotel, Winner, Leisure Project of the Year 2013
"Despite the fact that my company is international,
I wanted The Morrison to reflect the soul of Dublin-the city has its own incredible personality. So we trusted Nikki and it has worked beautifully."
